ACTIVE DUTY SCHOLARSHIP SOP

SCHOOL YEAR 2008-2009 (FALL 2008-SUMMER 2009)

1.   Application packets contain an Application (1CDA FORM 9) and Certification of Institutional Authority (1CDA FORM 10).

2.   Application packets will be produced by the Foundation of the 1st Cavalry Division Association or provided on-line.  

3.   Application packets can be obtained on-line or from the Association Headquarters at 302 N. Main Street, Copperas Cove, TX 76522, or the Crossed Sabers Souvenir Shop in the 1st Cavalry Division Museum beginning on 1 April 2008.

4.  Completed, signed application (1CDA Form 9), a copy (front only) of the applicant's military identification card, latest transcript of high school or college credits, two letters of recommendation from someone other than a family member, a five hundred word essay on a problem facing our country and a solution or solutions by the applicant and the completed, signed Certificate of Academic Institutional Authority (1CDA Form 10) must be received at the Association Headquarters prior to the close of business on 1 July 2008.     

5.   Deadline for submission of applications is 1 July 2008.  

6.   Notification of selection will be by letter from the Foundation no earlier than 1 August 2008.  

7.   Checks will be mailed directly to the Academic Institution from the Foundation.  

8.   Grants may be used for tuition, fees and books only.
