The Chapter

The Flying Horseman Chapter was chartered in 2001 in the Upstate New York area.

The Chapter meets on the first Sunday of each month at the Elmira American Legion Post #443 located at 316 Lake Street.

The Chapter continues to provide support to Army and Air Force personnel stationed in Iraq.  Sales of the book, Horse Soldiers, written by Chapter President Thomas R. Randall, are being offered with proceeds being used to fund our shipping of packages to Iraq.  Books are available online from Trafford Publishing at http://trafford.com/07-1437 for $15.95.   Thomas Randall died on 4 May and Vice President Charles Sullivan is President of the Chapter.

Our Chapter participates and assists in the planning of Veterans Day and Memorial Day parades and also helps to decorate the graves of veterans from all of the wars.  We have also participated in the reopening ceremony at the Woodlawn National Cemetery.  This cemetery was closed to military burials for several years until a new columbarium was added that provided an additional 2,000 spaces.
