1st CAVALRY DIVISION

Korean War Book of Honor

The 1st Cavalry Division came ashore at Pohang Dong, South Korea on 18 July, 1950 and served 549 days of continuous combat on the Korean peninsula before returning to Japan to serve as the Far East Command Reserve.  The Troopers of the 1st Cavalry Division earned seven Campaign Streamers and were awarded the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and Chryssoun Aristion Andrias (Bravery Gold Medal of Greece) streamer.  Eight Troopers of the First Team were awarded the Medal of Honor, five posthumously.  Valor in savage terrain and under adverse weather was commonplace.

The names of 3,812 Troopers of the 1st Cavalry Division that gave their lives for their country during the Korean War are listed by unit below.  Some of these lists are long and it may take a period of time to load on your computer.

They served their country in what is commonly referred to by many as the Forgotten War.  We remember them and honor their service and sacrifice to ensure freedom for others.  They will never be forgotten!
