Active Duty Scholarship Program

ELIGIBILITY

The window for active duty Troopers and their families to register for scholarships for the 2009-2020 school year has closed and all scholarships in this category have been filled.  The following persons are eligible to apply for a scholarship grant from the Foundation of the 1st Cavalry Division Association for the Academic year 2010-2011:

  • Currently assigned 1st Cavalry Division Troopers who are Life members of the 1st Cavalry Division Association.
  • The spouse or children of members of the 1st Cavalry Division Association that are currently on active duty and  assigned/attached to the 1st Cavalry Division.

BENEFIT

Based on available funds, scholarship grants for tuition, books, and lab fees of up to $1,200.00 per academic year for a period of no more than four years are available.

Scholarship grants can be used during the entire academic year 2010-2011.  Awardees must compete each year for follow-on grants.

RULES OF SELECTION

Scholarship grants are awarded based on financial need and merit.  If the number of applications exceeds the money available, a board of active duty Command Sergeants Major, serving as members of the Association, will establish an order of merit list from all eligible applicants.  When the 1st Cavalry Division is deployed, the Foundation of the 1st Cavalry Division Association Board will consist of three to five retired Command Sergeants Major of the Division that are members of the 1st Cavalry Division Association. 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Application packets must be filled out completely and submitted to the Association Headquarters located at 302 N. Main St., Copperas Cove, Texas 76522-1703.  Forms are available at the Crossed Sabers Souvenir Shop in the 1st Cavalry Division Museum beginning on 25 March 2010.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The window for the Active Duty Scholarship Program is closed.  The program will be available in March/2010 for school year 2010/2011.  Completed applications must be received at the 1st Cavalry Division Association headquarters at 302 N. Main Street, Copperas Cove, TX 76522-1703 prior to the end of the business day on 1 July 2010.  Applications received after that date will not be considered.
