The Chapter

The Walter H. Westman Northland Chapter was chartered in 2002 in Minnesota.  The Chapter is more than a statewide organization.  We have members from Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota. 

The Chapter meets on a quarterly basis.  In an attempt to accommodate everyone, two meetings each year are held at various locations in the state, one north and one south, and two in the Twin cities.  Meetings are usually on Saturday and include a social hour, lunch, a speaker and/or an activity such as a tour or celebration. The Chapter publishes a newsletter, The Horse Soldier, that published four times a year and is sent to all active Chapter members that contains information of interest and meeting information. 

The Chapter has worked hard providing support to the Soldiers and families of deployed Troopers by sending Grocery Gift Cards to the Family Assistance  Specialists working with the Minnesota Army National Guard.  The Chapter raises funds by attending Gun Shows and taking donations.  Since this program began in 2005, the Chapter has donated over $62,000 to help these Soldiers and their families.  If you wish to volunteer contact Dave LaPlante (952) 933-3487.

The Chapter hosted the 63rd Annual Reunion of the 1st Cavalry Division Association in June of 2010 in Bloomington.
