The Chapter

The Sheridan's Cavalry Chapter was re-chartered in 2003. This Chapter was originally chartered as the Chicago Metro Chapter in 1998 and was renamed when the Chapter was re-chartered.

Guest speakers at meetings in 2009 have included LTC Scott Bleichwehl, who was the Division's PAO during their last tour in Iraq, and he provided a briefing on the Division in Iraq. Dr. Janet Kamer, PhD., who is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, provided a presentation on PTSD. The Chapter sends 25 "shoe boxes" to Troopers of the First Team serving in harm's way at each meeting .

The Chapter has provided support to deployed Troopers continuously since the First Team deployed in 2004 and remains active between meetings. The Chapter marched in the Memorial Day Parade in Chicago on 23 May and will be involved in the South Elgin Memorial Day Parade on 30 May. The Chapter is hosting two tents at the July 18, "Rockin For the Troops" at Cantigny Park to raise funds for "Operation Support our Troops and sponsor Veterans from the Hines VA Hospital. On 8 August we hosted our Chapter Picnic at the Roselle American Legion. The Chapter's Public Relations representative is Allen Lynch, 12th CAV, alynch5035@aol.com.

The Chapter assisted the Kettle Moraine Chapter in hosting the 2002 Annual Reunion of the 1st Cavalry Division Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
