First Team Veterans Gathering in DC

Veterans of the 1st Cavalry Division and members of the 1st Cavalry Division Association will gather in Washington, DC to honor the Veterans of our Armed Forces and renew old acquaintances.  All First Team Troopers and their families are welcome to visit our hospitality room and participate in the events that happen in and around the area.

A block of rooms has been secured at the Crowne Plaza Washington National Airport for the nights of Wednesday, 9 November to Sunday 13 November, 2011 to provide a home base for Troopers that will attend Veterans Day activities in Washington, DC.  A 1st Cavalry Division hospitality room will be located in the hotel and a small LZ Souvenir Shop will be set up by the National Capitol Region Chapter who is also coordinating a banquet to be held on the evening of Veterans Day in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  If you are told that the room block is full for the dates listed contact the Association headquarters.

To reserve a room you can call in your reservation or reserve your room on-line.  The deadline to reserve your room at the special rate of $119 per night plus tax is 10 October 2011.

Getting around in Washington, DC can be difficult.  Parking is often limited and expensive.  The city has an excellent mass transit system which includes the Metro and bus service.  Taxi cabs are plentiful and there are several tour companies that provide transportation around to the varied locations.  Informational links are provided on this page.  They may not be all inclusive and none of the private companies are being endorsed by the 1st Cavalry Division Association.

Mount Vernon, the home President George Washington, normally provides free admission to active duty military and veterans on Veterans Day.   Information on activities at Mount Vernon are not yet published.  Visit http://www.mountvernon.org/mountvernon/about_us/index.cfm/ for additional details.
