Currently the NCR Chapter has approximately 70 members with 20 to 30 members who actively participating on a monthly basis.  The Chapter breakfast meetings are normally held at 0900 hours on the 3rd Saturday of each month.   The next meeting will be held on 18 September, 2010 at the American Legion Post 176.  Breakfast begins at 0800 (good selection and a good price) and the meeting begins at 0900.

As the Chapter enters into its fourth successful year of operation, we encourage you to join us at our meetings.  We also ask that you invite fellow Troopers and their families to attend.  This is a family event with many wives and family members attending our meetings.  It is also a very informal atmosphere where comrades in arms meet with everyone having an active voice.

Meetings are NOT held during the months of November (Thanksgiving) and December (Chapter Holiday Party) and July and August (Summer Vacation).

The projected meeting dates and locations for 2010 are:

July & August - No Meeting (Summer Vacation)
18 September –
American Legion Post #176, 6520 Amherst Ave., Springfield, VA.
16 October –
American Legion Post #176, 6520 Amherst Ave., Springfield, VA.
November - No Meeting (Thanksgiving)
December – No Meeting (Chapter Holiday Party)

Current Chapter activities include visits to in-patient wards at and support to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, support to the Wounded Warriors at Fort Belvoir, assistance to the Association with the annual Veterans Day activities in the DC area, increasing chapter membership, fraternal activities, and support to fellow Veterans groups and organizations.

Of special interest this summer, the Chapter will be participating in the 3D Annual Katz Deli Lunch to be held on Saturday, June 19th at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  The Katz Deli Lunch will include a full New York City deli lunch, special live music, drawing, lots and lots of give-aways and special guests.  As in the past two years, we request support in two ways - financial and assisting in serving the Wounded Warriors and their families at the lunch.  Katz Deli is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and they will provide pastrami, corned beef, hot dogs, turkey; breads, condiments, potato salad, and their famous cheese cake.  We will cover the cost of shipment, and other items such as sodas, water, ice cream, and table settings.  We also will provide a large drawing (at no cost to the Warriors or their families.)  Last year we had several wonderful prizes that included a lap top computer, digital camera, camcorder, DVD players, web cameras, Visa Gift Cards, fly fishing outfit, and a large assortment of gifts for the children, as well as many other items.  It is for these items we as for your support.  Everything contributed goes directly to supporting the Wounded Warriors and their families.  In past several years, we have Wounded Warriors from Walter Reed and Bethesda attending.  This year we are going to include the 100+ Wounded Warriors at Fort Belvoir.  We encourage you to attend and support this exciting and meaningful program.

Finally, the Chapter also assists the 1st Cavalry Division Association National Headquarters in running the Hospitality Suite in the Washington, DC area on Veterans Day and coordinated a 1st Cavalry Division Association Veterans Day Dinner in 2009.  The dinner was attended by 136 people including three wounded Troopers that were at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  We expect even higher dinner attendance in 2010.  Information on Veterans Day activities and the 2nd Annual Dinner is available on the Association web page.

We encourage you to get involved and participate in our Chapter activities.
