The Executive Director of the 1st Cavalry Division Association is responsible for the day to day running of the Association and all of its functions. Article IV, Section 3 of the By-Laws of the 1st Cavalry Division Association states: "It shall be the duty of the Executive Director to keep proper books, to record all business of the Association; and to keep minutes of all meetings of the Board, of the Executive Committee, and of the general membership meeting conducted at the Annual Reunion. The Executive Director shall prepare the correspondence relating to the Association. The Executive Director shall exercise custody of an bear responsibility for all monies paid into the Association, keep proper books and records of the same, and deposit the same in the name of the Association in an insured financial institution. He shall submit at least an annual report on the fiscal status of the Association to the general membership at the Annual Reunion and shall make such other reports as required by the Board from time to time." Initially, the position of Executive Director was referred to as the Registrar and that function, registering members and maintaining records, is still the responsibility of the Executive Director of the Association. The offices of the Association were maintained in the home of the Registrar first in Pomona, California and then in Albuquerque, New Mexico until they moved temporarily to a building on Fort Hood in 1973 and finally to their present location at 302 N. Main Street in Copperas Cove, Texas in 1975. Six men have served the 1st Cavalry Division Association as its Registrar or Executive Director since the Association's Constitution and By-laws were first signed and the Association was incorporated in Washington, DC in 1949. Webster The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director have increased over the years to include coordination of the annual reunions of the Association, oversight of the records of the Foundation of the 1st Cavalry Division Association and the 1st Cavalry Division Association Museum Foundation, publishing SABER, and maintaining the Association web page. Hired by the Board of Governors the Executive Director is a paid employee of the Association and must be a Life member of the Association. |
